Radiation irritation.

We have been reading a lot about Fukushima in the news. The west coast seems particularly focused on it. Due to the flotilla of Japanese junk making it's way toward the U.S.  It's time to set a few things straight. First of all, the radiation released from the Fukushima nuclear plants during the earthquake and subsequent tidal wave was frightening to be sure. Area's within a 25 mile radius of the plant were exposed to 22 rem. About 10 times the recommended safe dosage. It was however under the 250 to 300 rem which can be immediately lethal. Of the 22.000 people who lived in that area. It's estimated that maybe half of them were exposed to the 22 rem. Which means about 197 of them will develop cancer. (If studies of radiation exposure from Nagasaki, Hiroshima and the Bikini Islands hold true).  The levels of radiation in the area dropped by half every 8 days. By 4 weeks after the Tidal Wave, Radiation levels were under .2 rem. (The International Commission on Radiological Protection recommends evacuation of a locality whenever the excess radiation dose exceeds .1 rem per year.) And although the Japanese people accept this idea. (And most nations try to follow it.) Denver Colorado has a yearly dose of .3 rem per year. Yet we don't seem to be evacuating Denver. (Interestingly, Denver also has an incidence of Cancer which is lower than the national average. We wonder what that means.)When materials from Japan wash up on the shore on the west coast they are immediately checked with a Geiger Counter and so far none of it has been radioactive. Radiation levels in the Seas around Japan are higher than normal. And it appears that some radiation is still leaking from within the Fukushima plant. The good news (and pay attention here.) is that the materials coming out of Fukushima are radioactive iodine. Which has a half life of eight days. So once the leak is sealed (if indeed it is still leaking at all) radiation levels will return to normal relatively quickly. The short half life of the radioactive iodine from Fukushima also explains why we are finding no radioactive materials arriving on our shores. So we at The Crazy suggest people STOP PANICKING about the Fukushima incident. And if you must panic, try not to injure anybody while you are running around and screaming. That's about it for today. Ciao for now.

  1. What about standing in front of the microwave? Or maybe cops resting their radar guns on their crotch, cell phones, power lines, the Betelgeuse Star,Iran. The list of radiation danger can be endless when you think about it.

  2. Are you saying that standing in front of the microwave (which is at waist level by the way.) and cooking my nuts is dangerous. (Chestnuts people, sheesh you folks have dirty minds.)

    1. What if the radiation is changing our DNA? That would make our future input of data that is stored in our DNA change in different ways.
      I was at work having a bad day. Water pipe spraid the shit out of me and took two hours to repair, Trucks battery was dead, had to get a jump, Broke a four foot bulb, had to clean that up on carpet. So, I decided to take a break and did something that I have never done before. I picked up the Walstreet Journal and started reading. Found an interesting article about bio genetics experiments that they have been working on, for how long, they didn't say, probably for years. Imagine a divice the size of your thumb storing as much information as the whole Internet;
      "Future of Data: Encoded in DNA."
      This just dosen't sound right, but they say they have encoded an entire book into the genetic molecules of DNA, and then accurately read back the text, although it took days to read (didn't name the book)53,426 words and 11 illustrations. They started out with a digial version of the book wich had ones and zeros, then on paper they translated the numbers to letters. So they created 55,000 strands of DNA with each holding part of the book. In that form billions of copies could fit into a test-tube and could last for centuries. They have already encoded poetry and music inside the living cells of bacteria. But they said that can only be done in a tube because the cell would kick out the forgien DNA. In a tube it is less subject to evolution. This kind of stuff sounds like science fiction. If they have been working on this for years, I never heard of it, have you? One could only imagine what other kinds of experiments are going on in some remote science lab out in the middle of nowhere, scary thought. Just thought I would mention this for something to think about.......

  3. I still don't know how to put the link in the post..........

    (watch, read and learn all you can) question it, don't believe it, but at least watch it.

    On top of all you guys are talking about you should check out this video. We are all at risk more with what their doing to this planet then we are with trying to power it. Kinda makes the nuke topic not so important. These idiots are killing our and their grandchildren and don't seem to care, for curing global warming? NOTHING we do makes sence if we don't take care of the Earth, not pollute the shit out of it in the name of saving it. We humans don't get it do we? Lets buy more aluminum and put that into our bodies. Can of soda with a grain of salt. OOOOOHHHH we will be just fine, SO STOP PANICKING, NOT!!!!!!!!
